Claude Sonnet 5 arrives, built to do the work
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5, which it calls its most "agentic" Sonnet yet. In plain terms, agentic means it is better at taking a task and carrying it through steps on its own, not just answering one question at a time.
The pitch is top-tier intelligence for coding and everyday professional work. Sonnet is Anthropic's mid-tier model, the one most people actually use day to day because it balances speed, cost, and smarts.
Alongside it, Anthropic launched Claude Science, a workbench for researchers that plugs into the tools scientists already use and produces auditable results you can check and trust.
Why it matters If you use Claude for drafting, coding, or research, the default engine just got noticeably more capable at multi-step tasks.
